FAQ – Gas Ducted Heating

What is gas ducted heating?

Gas ducted heating is one of the most common used heating systems that provides warmth to the entire house. Gas ducted central heating is designed to draw air inside your home through a return air grille, then passed over a heat exchanger, warmed by gas combustion, then forced back through ducts which are heavily insulated to reduce heat loss.

What is star energy rating means?

The star rating on your gas ducted heater helps you compare how much gas your heater is usually using. It is an indicative guide that outlines the running cost of the heater in terms of annual energy usage.

How effective is ducted gas heating?

Ducted gas heating allows control of the heat delivery through zoning, though there’s an additional capital cost in zoning models and design of that system.

Can we add on cooling to existing ducted heating?

Yes. Add-on air conditioning is an option for those already have gas ducted heating.

What is carbon monoxide?

Carbon monoxide is a colorless, odorless, tasteless gas produced by burning gasoline, wood, propane, charcoal or other fuel. It is a poisonous gas that can seep into your home and be fatal if inhaled in large amounts. Regular checking is needed to avoid CO leakage.

Does gas ducted heating use electricity?

Yes. In gas ducted heating, electricity allows a fan to move the air around the home. Higher efficient (more stars energy rating) units have more efficient fans/motors which reduce energy usage.

How often should the gas ducted heater be serviced?

Energy Safe (Victoria) recommends that you service your gas ducted heater every two years.
